Am I eligible for Cotton End Resident’s rate?

Yes, if you live in the ward of Cotton End (as given by Bedford Borough Council). We will require proof of residency before applying the discount to your booking.

 

Can I “hold” a date for hall hire?

No, you must pay the deposit for a date when you book. If you cancel 6 weeks before we will return the full amount to you.

Do I have to pay for a 2 hour session if my event is shorter?

Yes. The hall can be hired for a minimum of 2 hours.

What time does my evening party have to end?

On Saturday evenings you must be cleared up by midnight. The hall is only available to hire on Saturday evenings for adult e.g. birthday/wedding parties to residents of Cotton End ward.
When Sunday evening parties are possible, you must be finished and cleared up by 10pm.

What size is the Hall and how many people can it accommodate?

The maximum occupancy of the hall is 200 people, (i.e. including guests as well as caterers, entertainers and organisers of the event) with seating for 75. The main hall is 12.8m x 6.3m.

What’s in the Hall?

There are 13 large tables (180 x 76cm) and 80 chairs.

What is in the kitchen?

There are 80 white dinner plates, bowls, side plates and cutlery. There are 80 cups and saucers. There are 6 gas rings and a gas oven and grill. There is a large warming oven, a microwave oven, a commercial glass washer, refrigerator and small freezer.
There are 2 urns, 2 kettles.

Kitchen Hire and crockery/utensils hire are not automatically included in your hall booking.

What can I put in the recycling bins?

Please put in all dry paper, plastics and cans. No bin liner required. Please take any glass away with you to your local recycling point (Nearest point is in the car park of the Bell Inn in Cotton End).

Is there room for a bouncy castle?

Yes. The hall height is approx 3m. Please see the photos on the gallery on the website to see the position of the lights.
A bouncy castle must not be installed so that it blocks a fire exit.
Note in the Conditions of Hire, it states: You shall ensure that all safety instructions given by the supplier of the bouncy castle are complied with and that the supplier has adequate insurance cover. Cotton End Village Hall has no insurance cover for Hirers using bouncy castles.

Are parties for teenagers allowed?

Unsupervised parties for 0 – 21 year olds are not allowed, but family parties are welcome.
 

Is there a sound limiter?

Yes. Electricity to the power points will be cut if music is played very loudly. This is necessary as the hall is in a residential area.

Do I need an alcohol licence?

You will need a licence if you sell alcohol or if alcohol is included in the price of a ticket for an event. You do not need a licence if you give your guests alcohol.
There is also the option to book the bar, which is managed and staffed by the Social Club, situated in the same building. For details of bar hire, please contact clerk@cottonendvillagehall.com

Outside

Please note that the playing field, benches and children's playground are owned and managed by the Parish Council and cannot be booked through the Village Hall. Use of these spaces is not part of the Hall hire and Hirers use these spaces at their own risk.
